Lazarus
A 19th century runaway slave plunges down a well as he makes his escape. When he climbs out, he finds himself in present-day post-Katrina New Orleans. He must find his way back to his family without ending up back in chains.
La
zarus is a practical man and – rather than admit he has fallen though time – he assumes that New Orleans is simply a crazy abberation in a sea of slavery. He sets about making sense of the brave new world in order to re-connect with his own time and place.
The story is a unique adventure, drama and love story that looks at progress and prejudice in the modern world, told in the magic-realist tradition of The Green Mile, Benjamin Button, Big Fish and O Brother Where Art Thou.
